Response of Qilian Mountain Low Clod Cover to Global-Warming

Using the low cloud cover date of 34 stations from January to December in the period 1961—2000 over Qilian mountain area,the relationship between variations of low clod cover and average temperatures for 40 years were analyzed by regression,composite,correlation analysis methods.The results showed that the average temperature corresponded to the low clod covers over Qilian mountain area.when the average temperature increased by 1℃,the low cloud cover was found to decrease 1%-6% over the majority region of Qilian mountain area,and the cloud decreased by 22% mostly over its southeastern area,but the cloud increased by 10%-40% over the Chaidamu basin and Hexi corridor.The better districts of response of low clod cover to warming were Chaidamu basin in winter and in autumn and Qilian Mountain in spring and Hexi corridor in summer.
