Seed Germination Characteristics and Ecological Adaption of Annual Plants in Alasha Region

The germination characteristics and ecological adaption of 9 kinds of annual plants in Alashan desert region were identified and analyzed.According to the results,the germinant rate of Aristida adscenionis Bassia dasyphylla and Salsola collina was higher.The average germinant rate of the fresh seeds was more than 70%,although the percentage of the seeds with dry storage and cold storage declined a little,it was still over 60%.The germination percentage of the fresh seeds of Chloris virgata Setaria viridis and Pappophorum boreale was below 15%,but rose obviously after dry and cold storage except for the dry-stored seeds of Setaria viridis.It was suggestd that afterripe and dormancy existed in the three species.The germination percentage of the fresh seeds of Eragrostis poaeoides was relatively high,which was close to 30%,however,it declined nearly to 0% after being treated.The germination percentage of Corispermum declinatum and Chenopodium glaucum was under 15%,especially the fresh one of Chenopodium glaucum did not germinate.Comparing with the grassland region,the germination percentage of annuals in the desert region tend to be lower,as well as the germinant course is slower in order to adjust to the climate in desert region quickly.
