BUCKLING COEFFICIENTS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT CONSTRAINT ACTIONS BETWEEN PLATE ELEMENTS OF LIPPED CHANNEL STRUTS

For cold-formed lipped channel struts, there are correlations between buckling of plate elements. Uniform constraint coefficient formulas used for various sections with different plate elements are given in the current code GB 50018-2002. But because of diversity of plate elements, whether it is rational or not, further researches are required. An analysis of lipped channel struts is made by ANSYS, and buckling coefficients, taking constraint action between plate components into account, are obtained, and compared with the codes both at home and abroad. It is shown that the results coincide well with British code; the code of our country is excessively safe. Using the form of British code for reference, formulas of buckling coefficients, taking constraint action into account, are given. These formulas provide reference for revision of specifications.
