An Experimental Study of the Surface Quality of Austenite-bainite Ductile Cast Irons(ADI)

Through the experiment of turning ADI, the machined surface formation and the surface roughness were studied. The influence of cutting data and geometrical angles of tools on machined surface roughness were also investigated. Experimental results show that surface quality is related with the irregularity of cutting edges and the defect of microscopic structures of machined materials. In order to enhance surface quality, therefore, optimum cutting data、tool wear、 surface roughness of flank faces of tools and the microscopic structures of ADI should be stressed.
