Investigation of Wear Lifespan of Cutting Tools in High-speed Machining

Liu Zhanqiang et al  
The wear characteristics and behaviors of cutting tools for high speed machining are analyzed. The wear mechanisms of some kinds of tool materials applied in high speed machining, including ceramic, PCBN, PCD, cermets and coatings are summarized. The tool wear lifespan during high speed machining cast iron, hardened steel and Ni based alloy are discussed.
