Intelligent Monitoring System of Tool Breakage Using Wavelet Analysis

A online monitoring system of tool breakage is presented,which detects the feed motor current during the drilling processes.In the system,the discrete wavelet analysis is used to deal with the feed motor current signals.The tool breakage features are extracted from the disposal signals.The application to the on-line monitoring system of interruption type custom macro function is discussed.Experience indicates that the tool breakage can be identified real-time,and giving an alarm and replacing tool can also be realized after using the monitoring system and interruption type custom macro function.Accordingly,the malfunction stop time of machine is cut down greatly and the usage of machine is increased greatly.
