Superhydrophobic Functional Surface Processing with Ultra- short Laser Pulses

Fabricating typical micro structures have become one of the hottest issues in the manufacturing industry,especially efficient processing of specific functional micro structure surfaces. In this study,high repetition rate picosecond laser pulses are used to form hierarchical structures in air for the development of superhydrophobic surfaces. The experimental results show that,with a pulse width 8. 1ps,wavelength of 532 nm picosecond laser can micromachining hierarchical structures with superhydrophobic functionality without any post- treatment,which static contact angle is 158°,as well as sliding angle is less than 5°. This approach demonstrates a new low- cost,high- efficiency processing functional surfaces with picosecond laser.
