Preparation of Nano ultrafine TiO 2 Powders by DC Arc Plasma Jet Method

Crystal nano ultrafine TiO 2 powders have been directly prepared by DC arc plasma jet method. The presence of the mixture of anatase and rutile, and single crystal and polycrystal TiO 2 grain were observed in as prepared powders. The growth of grains was very slow below the thermal treatment temperature of 600℃, and the average diameter of grains was below 20nm. The powder grains grew rapidly when the tradtment temperature was higher than 700℃, and the structure of grains changed from anatase to rutile remarkably. When the treatment temperature was higher than 800℃, the structure of the grains transformed absolutely to rutile, and the average diameter of grains was in the range of 40-120nm.
