STUDY ON THE LEACHING OF SILVER SULFIDE WITH CHLORIDE SOLUTION

The leaching behavious of silver sulfide with chloride solution are studied by using of thermodynamic analysis and kinetics calculation with a PC-1500 computr. The thermodynamic posibility of the. leaching of silver sulfide by ferric chloride-sodium chloride solution is determined by the E-log [Cl~-] diagram. The influences of particle size of Ag_2S, the initial pH values of the leaching olution, the concentrations of chloride ion and ferric ion, and the temperature on the kinetics are investigated. It is shown that leaching process is well in agreement with the model of "the unreacted core", and the apparent activation energy is 56.24 kJ/mol. The reaction process is controlled by the solid film diffusion. The kinetic equation is represented.
