Study on Pre-oxidation Effect of Refractory Gold Ore by Multi-bacteria Polyculture

Based on different physical and chemical characteristics of strains, three bacterial species, thiobacillus ferrooxidans (T.f), T. thiooxidans(T.t)and oxidation leptospirillum ferrooxidans(L.f) were selected to investigate. Using two species (T.t and L.f) and three species (T.f, T.t and L.f ) combinations with different proportion, the influence of the mixed culture of bacteria on the leaching effects of a refractory gold ore was investigated. Through shaking flask leaching and cyanidation leaching of gold, the leaching rate of gold was determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Experimental results indicated that the leaching rate of gold is only 50% for species without the biological pre-oxidation and 80% or higher for species with the bio-oxidation pre-treatment. It was also found that the leaching effects of T.f, T.t and L.f three mixed bacterial species are better than those of single or two bacterial species with leaching rate increase of about 2%~10%.
