The Value of Literary Translation: To Start the New Journey of the Original with its Poetics——An Observation of the Chinese Translation of Shakespeare′s Works Based on Benjamin′s Translating Outlook

The outlook of translation and the relation between the original and the translated expounded in The Task of the Translator written by Walter Benjamin gives a more reasonable clarification of the complicated phenomena in translation history.The analysis of the Chinese translation of Shakespeare′s works and how the classics gain the afterlife in China illustrates that "unfaithful" literary translation has its historical value if it transmits the "poetics" of the original.
