Present situiation and prospect of ophthalmic anesthesia in China

AIM: To analyzed and discussed the present status, existent problems and future development on the ophthalmic anesthesia technique, drugs and monitoring in China. · METHODS: Based on the systemic review of published literatures and retrospection of earlier clinical practice, combined with present situation and questionnaire investigation for some patients with local, the existent main problems and future development on the ophthalmic anesthesia technique, drugs and monitoring in China are analyzed and discussed. · RESULTS: Though there are some progresses in ophthalmic anesthesia, many shortages still existed in the aspect of technique, drugs and monitoring. Most of the patients with local anesthesia showed different degrees of anxiety and restless, some of them felt pain. · CONCLUSION: The present ophthalmic anesthesia technique, drugs and monitoring should be improved on, including ophthalmic anesthesia conception. The specialty and standardization of ophthalmic anesthesia should be set up to meet the demand of sedation and analgesia of non-general anesthesia patients.
