Preparation of TiO_2/ACF Catalysts and Their Photodegradation on Tetrachloroethylene

Photocatalysts of TiO2 supported on activated carbon fibre(ACF) were prepared by means of vacuum adsorption-hydrolysis method,using sucrose as a binder between TiO2 and ACF.The TiO2/ACF catalysts were characterized by BET,XRD,and SEM.The photodegradation activity of TiO2/ACF was investigated using tetrachloroethylene(TCE) as a probe molecule.The results indicate that TiO2 can be loaded on the surface of the ACF perfectly through the vacuum absorption-hydrolysis method.The photodegradation yield of TCE in aqueous solution is beyond 90% using the catalyst prepared in optimum method under the UV-visible light irradiation for two hours.The catalyst can be recycled several times without losing its photocatalytic activity.
