Principle and Application of Self-Adaptive Horizontal Force Control Technique

Traditional strut for horizontal force delivery cannot adapt to the variation of strut length automatically.Pre-compression or adjustment with jack either complex the structure of strut or induce additional internal force in the supported structure.From the point of deformation adaption,an self-adaptive horizontal force control technique,which can adapt automatically to the variation of strut length induced by shrinkage,creep or temperature,is proposed in this paper.Principle and design method of this technique are discussed in detail.The application in Weiyi Bridge shows that the self-adaptive horizontal force control technique can overcome the shortcomings of traditional supporting strut mentioned above.This technique is independent of external device such as jack and is applicable to permanent structure.
