Application of ball milling process in synthesis of composite materials

Mechanical alloying process is an effective process to synthesize new materials and has been applied extensively in composite materials fields. Using this process can achieve new composite materials with unique features which can hardly achieve under conventional conditions. High energy milling is the newest process in mechanical alloying process,incensing chemical reactions at low temperature by high energy milling to synthesis high quality metal or ceramic materials. This paper reviewed such principles as interfacial reaction principle, solution and decompound principle and SHS combustion principle.The functions of high energy milling's intensity is produced in synthesizing composite materials; the applications and the developments in the ceramic metal base composite materials and metal ceramic composite materials field are presented.
