Survey and comparison of source of job stress for nurses between the joint venture hospital and state-own hospital

Sun Hongyu, Xiong Yong school of nursing, PKU, 100083, No. 38, Xueyuan road, Haidian district, Beijing Department of GP Clinic, United Family Hospital and Clinics, 100061, Beijing, PRC.
This article compares the level and source of working pressure by nursing staff at a Chinese-foreign joint venture hospital and a state-owned hospital. Observation: The hospital management systems are significantly influential to nurse's perceived working pressure based on the “working conditions and resources aspect question", but other aspects' affects appear to be insignificant. Factors found to be significantly influential on amount of perceived stress were superior quality of equipment and the work environment such as at the foreign join venture hospital. Factors contributing equally to stress at both hospitals included a sense of poor opportunity for career advancement and not being valued by the health care system in general. Conclusions: The source of nurses' working pressure seems to mainly be with the nature of nursing work itself, as well as with the overall economic and the social cultural environment and so on. It would decrease nursing stress to adjust the working environment, to provide more opportunity for advancement, and a greater sense of value to the health care system overall.
