Evacuation Schemes for Fire in Two-direction Tunnel

The theoretical analysis and experimental validation were carried out to study the fire with different scales and the propagation velocities of smoke in two-direction tunnel with U-turn lane and emergency parking strip.The results show that(1)the propagation velocity of the fire smoke can be controlled through adjusting the blowing direction of ventilation system and the numbers of blowers;(2) the control of fire accidents can be divided into three stages(fire developing stage,evacuating stage,extinguishing stage):in the developing stage propagation velocity of the fire smoke should be controlled to less than 0.5 m/s to damp the evolution of fire;in evacuating stage the smoke should be controlled to move along the direction to the nearest outlet of the tunnel,and the velocity of airflow should be controlled to move faster than that of smoke;in the last stage the airflow velocity should be greater than 2.5 m/s,and airflow should be directed to the nearest outlet of the tunnel.In each stage,the vehicles should be evacuated along the old direction in sequence,in reversal direction or return with moving to the emergency parking strip first.
