The Relationship between the Congenital Hypodontia of Mandibular Incisor and Malocclusion

Objective:To investigate the relationship among the congenital hypodontia of mandibular incisor and malocclusion and the variation of medial distal dimension of mandibular canine.Methods:A total of 962 patients with malocclusion were selected from outpatient department,among these patients,27 cases with the congenitel hypodontia of mandibular incisor.The medial distal dimension of the dental crown of the mandibular anterior teeth was measured.Results:Among these patients,96% patients with the congenital hypodontia of mandibular incisor have the characteristics of the congenital hypodonita of central incisor,92% patients have anterior teeth deep overbite and the mandibular canine is not great enough.Conclusion:The closed relationship between the congenital hypodontia of the mandibular central incisor and the deep overbite of anterior teeth is found,the mandibular canine is not enlarged compensatly.
