Investigation and Research on Hospital Patient Safety Culture

Objective:To understand the status quo of patient safety culture cognition of the staff in a comprehensive hospital of class A,grade three in Chongqing,and to provide basis and policy suggestions for improving patient safety management.Method:An online questionnaire was filled out among 613 employees in different positions in the hospital,and SAS8.0 statistical software was used for analysis and processing.Result:The overall score of hospital patient safety culture was 3.77±0.98,and the overall positive response rate was 67.09%.The five dimensions of "department internal team cooperation","hospital management support for patient safety","managers' expectations and actions to promote patient safety","organizational learning and continuous improvement" and "feedback and communication on errors" are the advantage areas.The two dimensions of "personnel allocation" and "non-punitive response to errors" are the areas to be improved.Age,education level,job category,professional title,department working years and weekly working hours are the influencing factors of hospital patient safety culture.86.78% of the patients in their department rated their safety work as "excellent" or "good".The positive reporting rate of adverse events perceived by hospital staff was 46.66%.Conclusion:The construction of patient safety culture in this hospital has certain advantages over other medical institutions at home and abroad.It is suggested to continuously optimize the allocation of human resources,create a positive cultural atmosphere,properly deal with adverse events,define key groups and key tasks,and make regular evaluation and continuous improvement.
