Study on preparation and properties of nano-HA/PA66/HDPE biocomposite

Nano-hydroxyapatite slurry (n-HA) was used to make composite with medical grade polyamide 66 (PA66) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The phase composition and crystal structure of n-HA in composite were similar to apatite in human bone, and stable interfacial bonding was found among n-HA, PA66 and HDPE. Mechanical analysis indicated that the tensile strength, bending strength of the composite were better than pure PA66 and HDPE. Meanwhile, the ductility of the composite was increased. The composite has good homogeneity, showing promising prospect for bone repair, orthopedics and tissue engineering.
