Nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of PP/PP-g-MMA/M composite

The nonisothermal crystallization proccesses of polypropylene(PP),polypropylene/mica(PP/M) and polypropylene/polypropylene-g-methyl methacrylate/mica(PP/PP-g-MMA/M) have been investigated by DSC.The Avrami and Ozawa equations were used to describe the nonisothermal crystallization processes of the above systems.The parameter values of n,t_1/2,F(T),T_p indicated that the mechanisms of nucleation and growth of crystallization were changed by mixing mica and PP-g-MMA,especially PP-g-MMA.The Dobreva method was used to describe the nucleating activity of the filler.The value of ε showed that the mica had better nucleating activity and the nucleating activity of mica was improved by the addition of PP-g-MMA in PP/M.Result,the crystallization temperature of the composites were visibly improved.The activation energies of PP,PP/M and PP/PP-g-MMA/M calculated by Kissinger method revealed that the addition of mica in PP decreased the activation energy of PP,the addition of PP-g-MMA in PP/M composite further decreased its activation energy.
