Preparation of textured SrBi_2Nb_2O_9 ceramic by templated grain growth

Textured SrBi2Nb2O9 ceramic was fabricated by templated grain growth and tape casting technique using plated-like SrBi2Nb2O9 prepared by molten salt synthesis method as the template particle. The effect of the template particle content on the sintering behavior,texture fraction,microstructures of textured ceramics was investigated. It was found that the maximum of the bulk density of SrBi2Nb2O9 textured ceramic sintered at 1200 ℃ for 2 h is at 10 wt% the template particle content,and then the density decreases as the content increasing. With the increasing of the template particle content,the grain size of the SrBi2Nb2O9 textured ceramics grows larger and the grain orientation growth becomes obviously. When the template particle content is 10 wt%,the largest Lotgering factor f of 0.81 for the textured SrBi2Nb2O9 ceramics is obtained. The piezoelectric constant d33 of the textured ceramic reaches to 13 pC/N,which is higher than that of ceramic prepared by solid solution reaction technique.
