Effect of lentinan on lymphoid organ and tumor growing of tumor-bearing mice

Objective: To investigate the effects of lentinan on the mice with transplanted S180 sarcoma.Methods: 32 mice were divided into 4 groups: normal saline control group,tumor blank control group,tumor saline control group and tumor lentinan group.S180 sarcomas were transplanted into mice in right axilla,lentinan was injected in tumor lentinan group,then observed the effect of lentinan on antitumor activity and influence on lymphoid organ,by testing indexes of thymus and spleen,as well as inhibitory rate of S180 tumor. Results: thymus index and spleen index in tumor lentinan group were greatly higher than tumor blank control group(P0.01).Inhibition rates of S180 sarcoma in tumor lentinan group were 47.85%.Conclusion: lentinan can cause spleen of tumor-bearing mice growing and prevente the thymus weights from decreasing.It indicates lentinan can stimulate restoring and improving of immune function of tumor-bearing mice.
