Novel Synthesis of 3,4-Dichloroanliline

CHEN Zhong-yuan PAN Xiang-jun LU Liang (The West Branch of Zhejiang University of Technology,Zhejiang 324006)  
The title compound was synthesized from o-dichlorobenzene by nitration and reduction. The optimum conditions was that the molar ratio of sulfuric acid to nitric acid was 2:1, reaction temperature of nitration was 60-70℃,the reducing agent was iron powder, and the molar ratio of o-dichlorobenzene:ammonium chlorid:iron powder was 1:2.73:4.3. Under the optimum conditions, the yield of 3,4-dichloronitrobenzene was 90.43%, and the yield of 3,4-dichloroanliline was above 99%. The products were characterized by FT-IR.
