Determination of Total Sugar in Honey by Ultraviolet Spectrophotometry

YANG Wen-Ju TIAN Shu-Gea DONG Wen-Jiea SHI Yanga(Institute of Quality Testing of Xinjiang,Urumqi 830002,P.R.China) a(College of TCM,Xinjiang Medical University,Urumqi 830054,P.R.China)  
The total suger was detected at 286nm with UV spectrophotometry.The calibration curve for total suger was linear within the range of 0—30mg/L(r=0.9993,n=5),the average recovery was 103%(RSD%=5.5,n=5),the content of total suger was 41.97%(RSD=3.16,n=5).The method was simple,convenient and accurate for determination of total suger in honey.
