Adsorption and Transformation of Cr(Ⅵ) to Cr(Ⅲ) with Pine Needle by UV-Vis Spectrometry

The process of the adsorption and transformation of Cr(Ⅵ) with pine needle in strong acid medium was studied by spectrophotometry.The effects of the amount of pine needle,reaction time and concentration of K2Cr2O7 on the transformation rate were considered.Under the optimal conditions,K2Cr2O7 aqueous solution was treated with pine needle for 6h,and transformation rate was upto 91.96%,the apparent first-order reaction was obtained as 0.008764min-1.The transformation process was controlled by adsorption of K2Cr2O7 in the concentration range of 0.2—0.4mmol/L,and controlled by chemical reaction in the range of 0.4—1.5mmol/L.The results are significant in the treatment of Cr(Ⅵ) by biological material,and offers a new way for the pollutants treatments in environment sciences.
