Investigation of properties of electro deposited nickel-phosphorous nanometer diamond composite coatings

The nickel-phosphorous composite coatings as well as the nickel-plusphorous nanometer diamond coatings are prepared by electro-deposition.The structure and morphology of the composite coatings is characterized.The effects of heat treatment temperature on tribological properties and hardness behaviors of the composite coatings are investigated.It is found after comparison to electrodeposited Ni-P coatings that the nickel-phosphorous nanometer diamond composite coatings exhibit not only high wear resistance but also low friction coefficient.The highest microhardness of the latter is obtained with heat treatment at 673 K.Basides,the mechanism of improvement of the tribological properties of the electrodeposited composite coatings are also discussed.
