The Combustion Synthesis of Fine Titanium Nitride Powders

An experimental investigation of prepnring fine TiN powders by Mg-thermic of TiO_2 under nitrogen gas is carried out . The conversion rate of TiN is influenced by the addi-tion of Mg reducing agent ,the initial density of reactant mixture , and the addition of MgO dilute and nitrogen compounds .And their influence is decreased progressively in sequence the morphology of TiN particles can be improved from polygon grain to spherical one by theaddition of MgO. In the end, the spherical and narrow distributed TiN powders (0.2~1.0μm)are obtained by the optimization of parameters.
