Cheng Shuiyuan(Department of Horticulture,Hubei Agricultural College,Jinzhou 434103)He Fengren(Department of Horticulture,Jiangsu Agricultural college)
Some Physiological characteristics, the changes of respiration, ethylene emanation, pectin methyl estrase(PME)and flesh firmness of pear fruits of two pear cultivars,Su—Liand Ya—Li(Pyrus bretschneideri Rehd)were studied in Jiangdu Orchard of Jiangsu Provincein 1988.The results showed that whether fruits were picked or remained on tree, both cli-macteric rise of respiration(CRR)of pear fruits would occur on Sept.18(155 days from fullblossom stage). It could also be seen that there were a peak of ethylene emanation and anearlier occurred peak of PME activity in pear fruits, but the existence of ethylene in Su—Lipear could not be determined. The CRR in late—picked fruits occurred earlier than that inearly—picked fruits.
