Advances in Research on Genetic Transformation in Woody Fruit Crops

Zeng Lihui and LüLiuxin (Department of Horticulture,Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University,Fuzhou,Fujian350002)
This article presents an overview of the progress in genetic transformation of woody fruit crops, particular attention is given to the methods of transformation and the factors affecting gene transfer.Agrobacterium-mediated and particle biolistics are the main methods used in genetic transformation of fruit trees. The factors affecting gene transfer are discussed from several aspects, such as plant targets and its regeneration system, marker gene and the selection of transformed cells and the conditions of culture.Papers reporting the introduction of target genes into woody fruit crops have grouped into one table. The article also discusses the development of genetic engineering of woody fruit crops.
