Genera Myrica L. was classified into more than 60 species and 6 species of them were found in China. This paper reviews the germplasm resources and geological distribution of 6 species of Myrica with a main focus on M. rubra in China. So far, there are 305 cultivars and 120 clones of M. rubra in China, and 18 cultivars have been approved as cultivars for commercial cultivation. Myrica sp. in China can be used as fruits, medical plants, ecological forest trees and garden trees. They have important economic profit, ecological effect, and social benefit and have a huge exploitation scope. Their exploitation achievements are summarized on the basis of fruit processing, medical effects and products, industrial materials and ecological forest trees, and the medicinal uses and their active components are emphasized discussed. Based on the processing problems, it is necessary to focus on research and exploitation of medical products from Myrica sp. and make full use of their ecological effects.
