Analysis of nucleotide content and variability of mtDNA D-loop sequence in laboratory closed colony of golden hamster

98 golden hamsters from four laboratory closed colonies of Lanzhou,Shanghai,Beijing and Wuhan were used to analyze the mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) D-loop.The results showed that the percentage of T,C,A,G in the mtDNA D-loop sequences of the laboratory closed colony golden hamster were 30.9 %,25.2 %,29.5 % and 14.4 % respectively,in which A+T was 60.4 %,G+C was 39.6 %,and the content of A+T was higher than G+C.Total of 167 polymorphism sites were found,in which 113 transition,52 transversion and 2 of both transition and transversion,the percentage of these sites were 67.66 %,31.14 % and 1.20 % respectively.However,there was no insertion/deletion.These indicated that Laboratory closed colony golden hamster in China has more rich of individual polymorphism and no-clear variation.
