Mutation breeding of streptomyces avermitilis irradiated by heavy ion beam

In order to screen high-producing-avermetin-B1a strains, the original strain Streptomyces avermitilis ZJAV-A1 was irradiated by the different doses of heavy ion beams 12C+6. The avermectin B1a component in the fermentation broth was measured by high performance liquid chromatography. The straw-hat-type high producing strain of Streptomyces avermitilis ZJAV-Y203 was obtained after screening. Compared with the original strain,its fermentation titer of B1a component was improved by 51.43 %.The results showed that high-producing-avermectin strain of Streptomyces avermitilis could be obtained after it was irradiated by heavy ion beams and the mutation effect was significant.
