Study on Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification in Submerged Membrane Bioreactor

Investigation was made on the simultaneous nitrification and denitrification in a submerged membrane bioreactor (SMBR) fed with synthetic wastewater under total nitrogen (TN) volumetric loading of 0.17 kg/(m3·d) and 0.36 kg/(m3·d) with different carbon-nitrogen (C/N) ratio.The sludge and hydraulic retention time (SRT and HRT) were 50 d and 6 h respectively.The result showed that:(1) for the TN volumetric loading of 0.17 kg/(m3·d) in influent,removal rate of NH+4-N and TN is 81.2% and 83.6% respectively under C/N ratio of 15 and DO of 1.0 mg/L;(2) for the TN volumetric loading of 0.36 kg/(m3·d),76.5% and 52.8% removal rate can be achieved respectively for NH+4-N and TN under C/N ratio of 10 and DO of 1.5 mg/L.
