Characteristics of Backwashing Sludge from Biological Aerated Filter (BAF) and Its Flocculation Efficiency

Backwashing sludge treatment from biological aerated filter (BAF) was one of the technical troubles that influence the engineering application,and then investigation was made on the settling and bio-flocculation performance of BAF backwashing sludge,and systematic analysis was carried out for its efficiency in bio-chemically enhanced coagulation treatment of domestic sewage and characteristics of secondary sludge.The results show that the backwashing sludge has great bioactivity and flocculation ability.When the combined backwashing sludge and metal salt coagulant is used for pretreatment of domestic sewage,the effluent quality is suitable for use as influent of BAF,and the secondary sludge produced in treatment process has good settling and dewatering performance.
