REMOVAL CHARACTERISTICS OF AROMATIC AND HETERCYCLIC ORGANIC COMPOUNDS OF COKE PLANT WASTEWATER TREATED BY ACTIVATED SLUDGE PROCESS

Systematic study was conducted on organic removal characteristics of coke plant wasterwater treated by the completely mixed activated slugde process and measured with the GC/MS instrumentation.Experimental results show that the coke plant wastewater is a complicate wastewater containing aromatic and heterocyclic compounds;under four different working conditions,kinds of the compounds in the effluent are decreased and consist mainly of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons,heterocyclic compounds and biodegraded intermediates;and of the organic compounds of the coke plant wastewater,benzene and phenol and their homologue are the primary easy to biodegrade organics,pyrrole and naphthalene the biodegrable,and carbazole and pyridine the refractory.
