Analysis of Echo Characteristic of a Strong Squall Line Process Based on Dopplor Weather Radar

Conventional meteorological data and Doppler weather radar products are used to analyze the strong squall line weather process occurred in Hu'nan on March 21,2009.The results show that the weather process occurred in advantageous environment field(the warming and humid at lower atmosphere,the stronger vertical wind shear in middle and low level atmosphere),and the invasion of middle-level cold advection aggravated the unstable stratification. During this process the hail echo characteristics presented V-gap,the weak echo region and overhanging structure,and there was convergence in the internal of the hail cell(below three km).When the VIL was above 40 kg·m-2,hail and strong wind was likely to occurr.Sharp increment of VIL appeared before hail occurrence.
