Design of Station and Yard for Chengdu East Oversized Railway Passenger Station

YUAN Guang-ming CHEN Gang (China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd., Chengdu 610031, China)  
The newly-built Chengdu East Railway Passenger Station, incorporating transfer function between railway, urban rail transit and urban highway, is an oversized, modern and integrated traffic terminal. The station was built with a mode of a joint design for railway station and yard, station buildings, metro station and integrated traffic installation and with simultaneous construction to complete each major project. As the receiving and departure terminal station for multiple unit trains, it is important to draw out plans for station location, the layout of station and yard and arrangement of throat zone. The paper sums up the solution and design method for the above important problems in design of the station and yard and probes into the major problems and design experience in the design of connector between railway station and yard, station building, and the metro in existing railway construction.
