A Corpus-based Analysis of Verb-noun Collocational Errors Committed by Chinese EFL Learners

Based on CLEC and LOCNESS,the present study,taking high-frequency verb learning as example,by means of Contrastive Interlanguage Analysis,investigates Verb-noun collocational errors committed by Chinese EFL learners.The results indicates that the Chinese learners showed a strong tendency of overuse certain noun collocates,fewer collocate types,underuse of typical collocations in their writing.The probable causes are lack of awareness of collocations,insufficiency of vocabulary and the influences from mother language transfer and teaching transfer.
