Effect of Powder Embedded Sintering Technique on Properties of BaTiO_3 Ceramics

Zhang Wenfeng Fan Qingzhi Su Xintai Ge Changchun (Laboratory of Special Ceramics and Powder Metallurgy, Beijing University of Science and Technology,Beijing 100083)  
Barium titanate ceramics were prepared from the home - made powders synthesized by hydrothermal method. The effect of sintering conditions without embedded powder, with Al2O3 and BaTiO3 embedded powder on relative density, microstructure and dielectric properties of the ceramics was investigated. The results show that powder embedded sintering technique could influence significantly the properties of barium titanate ceramics; and the relative density was higher, the grain size was finer and the dielectric properties was better in the sample sintered with BaTiO3 embedded powder than those in the sample with Al2O3 embedded powder or without embedded powder.
