Crystallization Behavior of a SiO_2-Al_2O_3-CaO-MgO-Fe_2O_3-ZrO_2-F Glass-Ceramic

The crystallizing behaviors and microstrutural developments of a SiO2-Al2O3-CaO-MgO-Fe2O3-ZrO-F glass were investigated by using scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry techniques.The results show that the glass transition temperature of the glass is 725℃,and a hollow-shaped amorphous phase-separation,which disperse throughout the parent glass,has been observed at 730℃.At first exothermal peak temperature of 820℃,it is found that a surface-induced crystallization is dominated and anorthite(CaAl2Si2O8)as major phase and wollastonite(CaSiO3)as minor phase are precipitated.However,the morphologies of crystals precipitated are different.From the very surface layer to inner regions,dendrites,dendrites and particles,and particle crystals were observed respectively.When the glass were heated to 1040℃ after thermal treatment for 1h at 820℃,the bulk crystallization was also found,forming the coexisting states of the surface and bulk crystallization.The main crystalline phase formed is anorthite in the bulk area.
