Preparation of Zinc Ferric Micro-Powder by Self-Propagating Combustion

In this paper, synthesis of zinc ferrite micro-powders with a method—self-propagating combustion method. The Fe(OH)3 gel and Zn(OH)2 gel were prepared with ferric nitrate, zinc nitrate and citric acid as raw materials and ammonia water as regulator. Then zinc ferrite was prepared with self-propagating combustion method. The self-propagating combustion process of the xerogel was analyzed by TG-DSC. And the zinc ferrite micro-powders were characterized by SEM and XRD. The results show: After the xerogel self-propagating combust at 155.8℃, and the weight losing ended until 217.65℃, when the weightlessness rate of the sample is 56.7%.The sample is zinc ferrite, does not have other impurity existences. The particles size distribution was uniform with 235.05nm on average.
