Influence of ZrO_2 on Aluminium Titanate Structure and Performance

By adding small amount of ZrO2 mineralizer into Al2TiO5 which synthesized from waste aluminum slag,it can form substitutional solution with Al2TiO5 and thus suppress its decomposing and enhance its thermal stability.XRD and SEM were used to characterize the crystalline phases and microstructures.Rietveld Quantification software was used to calculate the content of each phase.The performance of each sample were also tested.The results show that the best content for ZrO2 added is 2%,the corresponding bulk density is 2.86 g/cm3,porosity is 23.0%,water absortion is 8.1% and bending strength stability after thermal shock is 84.2%.
