Research on Cerium Oxide and Magnesium Oxide Composite Modified Aluminum Titanate Composite Ceramics

Aluminum titanate is the only known structural materials of low inflation and standing with high temperature.However,it will be broken down into aluminum oxide and titanium dioxide from 850 ℃ to 1280 ℃,and its strength is also very low.The two weaknesses seriously restricted its use.CeO2 and MgO used as the additive to modify aluminum titanate ceramic.Using universal testing machines and scanning electron microscopy to study of the volume of material density,coefficient of thermal expansion,mechanical properties and microstructure and so on.The results showed that the CeO2 and MgO can effectively improve the aluminum titanate ceramic composite of a variety of nature,and add(4-6)% CeO2 +9% MgO of aluminum titanate composite ceramics by 1450 ℃ sintering 2 h to get more good performance.
