Study on Leaching Na~+ in Red Mud from Bayer Process

This paper though three lixiviants H2O、NH4Cl and citric acid leach sodium in red mud respectively and analysis the transformation of mineral composition in red mud by XRD for study the leaching characteristics of Na+in red mud from the process of Bayer. The results showed that the leaching rate of Na+in red mud by NH4Cl in one leaching is equal to the total leaching rate of Na+in red mud by H2O in many times leaching; the leaching rate of Na+in red mud by citric acid in one leaching could be reach 95. 56%. From the figure of XRD,NH4Cl could leach soluble Na+and keep the structure of [Al6Si6O24]in red mud; citric acid could leach whole Na+in basic with destroy the structure of [Al6Si6O24]in red mud.
