Hydration Process of Portland Cement-slag Composite Pastes

For exploring the hydration process of Portland cement-slag composite system,the reaction degree of slag,amount of non-evaporable water,content of Ca( OH)2,porosity and compressive strength of the pastes are studied at various curing ages,water to binder ratios,and slag content. Based on the experimental results,the evolution of the reaction degree of slag and amount of non-evaporation water of slag-Portland cement composite pastes are analyzed. The effect of slag on the amount of Ca( OH)2is also explored. An offering-demand model of Ca( OH)2is also presented in the hydration process of cementslag pastes according to the microcosmic characteristics and amount of hydration products. The interaction between slag and Portland cement is analyzed. The optimum mass ration of cement to slag is determined.The above findings may provide a guidance on reasonable utilization of slag in cement based materials in field engineering.
