Hydration Characteristics of Blast Furnace Ferronickel Slag Powder in Cement-based Complex Binder

The hydration characteristics of blast furnace ferronickel slag powder( BFFN) in complex binder at different powder ratios were investigated via measurements of exothermic rate,reaction degree of powder,content of chemical bonding water,mole radio of Ca to Si of formed silicate calcium hydrate( CS-H) gel and the hydration characteristics of cement-BFFN composite cementitious material were studied including early,medium and long term hydration processes and microstructure. The results show that the mix of BFFN leads to the decrease of exothermic rate and delay the occurrence point-in-time of hydration exothermic peak. In cement-BFFN complex binder,the reaction degree of BFFN and the content of chemical bonding water decrease with the increase of ratio of BFFN. The mole ratio of Ca to Si of formed silicate calcium hydrate in cement-BFFN complex binder lower than cement,and the Ca/Si decreases with the increase of hydration time. In the hydration process,the Al contained in BFFN will form calcium silicoaluminate hydrate( C-A-S-H) gel by replacing Si of silicate calcium hydrate( C-S-H) gel.
