Application of Acousto-Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation for Interlaminar Bond Quality in Filament-Wound Fiber Reinforced Composites

The paper introduces the application of acousto ultrasonics to damage asessment of composites.The longitudinal wave resonance produced by acousto ultrasonic signal in the thickness of the specimen makes the frequency spectrum energy concentrated nearby some frequency spot.Acoustic wave is send from the sending transducer to the receiver transducer in the form of shear waves.The peak position of the acousto ultrasonic spectrum is used for nondestructive evaluation of interlaminar bond quality in filament wound fiber reinforced composites.The experimental results show that the parameter is sensitive to debonding and kissing bond in fiber reinforced composites.
