Preparation of monodispersed Co nanoparticles and its effect on the thermal decomposition of ammonium dinitramide

The monodispersed Co nanoparticles with high purity were successfully prepared by means of hydrogen arc plasma method in the inert atmosphere.The particle size,morphology,specific surface area and composition of the samples were characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM),the corresponding selected area electron diffraction(SAED),specific surface adsorber and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The compound particles of Co nanoparticles and ADN with different ratio were prepared.The effect of different content of Co nanoparticles on the decomposition of ADN was investigated by DTA.The results show that the decomposition peak temperature of ADN decreases obviously due to the addition of Co nanoparticles.The more the addition of Co nanoparticles is,the more the decomposition peak temperature of ADN decreases,and the apparent decomposition heat of Co/ADN composition increases obviously,which indicates that the Co nanoparticles have excellent catalytic effect on ADN.
