Numerical calculation for ablation of carbon fiber/epoxy resin laminated composites under continuous laser irradiation

The parameterization design language APDL of the engineering software ANSYS was used to compile programs to derive transient temperature distribution and the ablation physical-mathematical model of the composites.The killing element method was used for the interface regressive ablation and thermal conduction coupling calculation,therefore the ablation dimension can be described quantitatively.The phase-change method of ANSYS was used to simulate latent heat by defining the enthalpy of the composite,which changes with temperature.The effects of fiber ablation,resin decomposition,radiation and convection heat loss were taken into consideration,then the temperature distribution and ablation rate of the carbon fiber/epoxy laminated composite under different irradiation time were numerically calculated.The ablation characteristics and mechanism were analyzed,and the calculation results agree well with experimental results,which can provide the basis for failure analysis of the composite and reinforcement technique under laser irradiation.
